Okay...do you remember what your first language lesson was??? khAla right? Now it is time for your second language lesson...and todays word is.... khAna. Remember what we learned about the kh sound? And the capital A in a word? So this word sounds like hoe-na with emphasis on the kh like you are clearing your throat... so there you go. You just learned how to say house in the language here...Good job!
In this post I decided to show you some photos of our house...figuring that pictures were the best way to give you a glimpse (no pun intended) of where we call home these days. This will be in two parts...today we will take you on a tour of the inside of our house...and another day the outside. Enough talk, let's get started! (thank you Jillian Michaels) Follow me!
THE PORCH...upon entering the front door this is what you see...our porch area. To the left is the bedroom to the right is the living room/bathroom/kitchen.
Please excuse the mess in these photos...we were still getting stuff sorted out. Here you can see our electrical system, storage, etc. |
Better picture of the shelf that A made to store stuff...nice work bud! |
LIVING AREA
One side of our living room...our couches on the floor, table to eat at, television, curtains made by my mom (thanks Mom!) and cute child in the middle. Notice kitchen through that door, you can see the purple curtains (also made by my Mom) |
Other view of the living room - door on the left goes to the bathroom. A spent a lot of time putting the shelves in and they are a lifesaver...still messy, but a lifesaver. And there is that cute little boy again! |
Looking back at the room...the heater in the corner and the big blanket over the door to keep heat in. |
THE BATHROOM
This is our bathroom...and though it is dreary by western standards, we feel like we are living the high life! The sink and shower both have hot water thanks to the hot water heater (the big tank in the top right). A hot water is called a boiler by people from England and now also (to my great annoyance) by my husband...he starts talking like whoever he is around the most...weird. |
This is our shower area...the nicest shower in M-ville if I do say so myself - it is hot steady water and wonderful! We are blessed! |
Again, A made these shelves to store bathroom supplies. And there is the washer...it is a beast, but so beautiful! It might be my favorite part of the house!
KITCHEN
Here is our kitchen from the living room entrance. Sink straight in front with great counter space. Under the gray curtains are shelves for storing pots and pans, etc. The bird also now resides in this window...for which he is thankful. There were just too many close calls with little t nearly pulling his cage off the window ledge in the living room. A canary can only have so many heart attacks because of near death experiences at the hands of a 14 month old in one week! |
Another view of the kitchen with the stove, etc. |
Yet another view - I like my kitchen, can you tell?!? Water filter and coffee supplies in the corner. The big metal cabinet is food storage, etc. The fridge is in the far left of the picture...I like it almost as much as the washer! |
And looking back into the living room. The spice rack we bought in the bazaar, shelf for toys and junk and shelf for dishes and toys and junk. And the cute little boy again...he must live here or something!
BEDROOM - if you turn left in the porch instead of right, you go into the bedroom.
Again, please excuse the mess...this room is a work in progress. Little t's bed is behind the curtain, our bed is to the right, but as you can see we are not using it. Little t knows the second we crawl in and wakes up crying and won't go back to sleep, so we move blankets into the living room every night and sleep on cushions in there...it works because we all sleep! So, this is mainly little t's room, clothes storage and drying racks. |
The king of the house himself. Little t in his little corner. A made that nice lamp for him. Little t went through a phase where he played with the curtains the whole time he was supposed to be sleeping. They have since been placed so he cannot reach them. He also went through a phase of ripping the super cute animal pictures off his wall during naps. Now that they are mostly gone, he mostly eats the sticky-tack and gives up and goes to sleep when he runs out of things to destroy. Little stinker. |
Speak of the devil...he followed me through the house while I took pictures yelling Mama! Mama! the whole time. |
I just had to throw this one in for fun...this is little t's favorite place to hang out and hope that he gets to watch t.v. he loves standing there on that cushion and watching the world go by. |
Well, this ends the indoor portion of our tour...hope you have enjoyed it and it has made you want to come visit. You are welcome to join us anytime...just make it summer so the men can sleep on the roof because as you can see, we don't have a lot of extra beds. Well, I take that back, we have an extra bed if you are brave enough to share a room with little t! I will try to post pictures of the outside of the house, yard, etc. Soon. Thanks for visiting!
Thanks for the tour. It was great! Love you!
ReplyDeleteTwo things:
ReplyDelete1. When the Livesays posted pics of their house, I had a dream that we were staying with them. And then driving around PAP which was very obviously not PAP, but rather our town with lots of car wrecks in the streets, and rubble strewn about. Weird.
2. Dave ALWAYS changes the way he says things when we hang out with people who speak differently than we do. For example, when we hang with his grandparents in Arlington they call him "Davuht", and have this weird rural MN accent. Dave talks in the same accent while we're there and for a good 2 hours after we leave. Drives me crazy.
nice looking washer :-)
